Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Bonding is a type of cosmetic option that can help to enhance the overall look of your smile. It is often done on just the front teeth as a way to fill in areas that are flawed and imperfect. It might be needed if you have gaps and spaces between your front teeth or if you have an area that has broken off or chipped. Bonding uses a material known as composite resin, which is matched perfectly to your existing smile. Most bonding work can last for roughly 10 or more years before it’ll need to be replaced.

Why might Dental Bonding be needed?

You might need or even want to have bonding done in our office because your front teeth have gaps and spaces. Likewise, the procedure is ideal for patients who have chipped, cracked or broken front teeth. In general, bonding helps to restore the beauty to your smile and hide minor imperfections and flaws. The procedure is quite simple, and we can perform it with little to no local anesthetic.

Who is a candidate for Dental Bonding?

Most patients who want bonding and would like to improve the look of their smile can sit for the procedure easily in our office. We can examine your teeth to decipher if bonding is the right option for you. Your old bonding can be easily replaced as it shows signs of wear or damage. Bonding is often an easier cosmetic option when compared to other procedures.

What happens during the Dental Bonding procedure?

We begin by slightly buffing the surface of the front teeth. A bonding gel is applied to the tooth and washed away. We then match the look of your teeth with the color of the composite resin that is being used. The material is applied to the tooth and smoothed into place. It’ll then be cured with a bright light that hardens it and prevents it from moving. Your new bonding is permanently in place and can last for roughly a decade or longer without falling or breaking away.
